Today's Harbor for Children, formerly Boys & Girls Harbor, is a residential community for youth. With a history of over 70 years providing resources, support and guidance to kids in crisis, the organization is a change maker and advocate for abused and neglected children throughout the southeast Texas region. The Harbor houses up to 88 children in multiple cottages in a seaside campus in La Porte, Texas. Today's Harbor's unique approach utilizes place, family structure and choice to act as a force for change in addressing all facets of abuse and neglect. These three key elements empower children to overcome self-destructive patterns, break cycles of abuse, develop social skills, learn responsibility and ultimately take back their own life path-becoming our next generation of neighbors, coworkers, friends and families.
