Mission
"To provide accessible barrier-free services to empower people experiencing problems with homelessness, housing, hunger, and poverty and to advocate for solutions to those problems," Preble Street is an innovative service provider and advocate for Maine's most disadvantaged residents, responding to urgent needs and emerging problems with a solutions-oriented, collaborative approach. From a nutritious breakfast to crisis intervention, from clean clothes to healthcare, from showers to a permanent home, Preble Street operates 24/365 providing a wide range of services for both youth and adults who are homeless and living in poverty from 13 programs at seven sites in Portland, Lewiston, and Bangor, including Food Security Hub, Health Services, Logan Place, Florence House, Huston Commons, Joe Kreisler Teen Shelter, Elena's Way, Maine Hunger Initiative, Veterans Housing Services, Anti-Trafficking Services, and Homeless Voices for Justice.

Goals
- 1.Build capacity within the agency to ensure quality client service provision, promote staff retention and development, and to proactively equip the agency for future growth. Areas of focus: promoting equity, staff retention, and diversification of funding streams.
- 2.Drive the scaling of Permanent Supportive Housing with 24/7 on-site services statewide to end chronic homelessness in Maine through advocacy, new programs, and provision of technical assistance. Implementing the vision of the Food Security Hub: Increase production, storage and processing capacity, and capability, and deepen and expand local food partnerships to increase sustainability.
- 3.Strengthen state systems to work towards proactive solutions and to be responsive to the needs of individuals and families experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty; Build on existing partnerships & expand new partnerships; Continue advocacy for support for emergency services such as low-barrier emergency shelter; Strengthen existing and explore new pathways for amplification of client voice.
