South Asian Council for Social Services, Inc.
Mission
Our mission is to empower and integrate under-served South Asian and other immigrants into the civic and economic life of New York. We meet the needs of our vibrant, diverse community with free services in any of the 20 languages our staff members speak: Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Punjabi, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Nepali, Tamil, Telugu, Cantonese, Mandarin, Hakka, Tibetan, Malay, French and Haitian Creole, Spanish, Tagalog and English. We champion healthcare access for all, support our seniors’ thriving, enable food justice, prepare community members for jobs through language and computer learning, provide information on immigration through a legal clinic, develop our youth’s leadership, and engage community members in their civic rights through our programs.
Vision
SACSS has been making significant progress in meeting the community's growing needs by expanding outreach programs, enhancing community engagement, and offering more resources and support to address the evolving requirements of the local population. Looking ahead, SACSS’s goal is to expand our programs and outreach efforts, particularly at faith-based organizations in Queens. We’re also working on connecting and increasing our outreach to South Asian and immigrant populations in the tri-state area. Currently, we have served 275,000 people, and our goal is to reach 300,000 by 2024 and 1,000,000 in 2030
Goals
- 1.Enhance and expand the current services offered by SACSS to strengthen the organization and transform it into a robust, viable, and supportive community center in New York that addresses multiple critical community needs. This includes ensuring that all elements of infrastructure, such as adequate space and equipment, are in place to accommodate the organization's expansion.
- 2.To build up our reserve funds to serve as a vital funding source, ensuring the sustainability. We also aim to maintain and strengthen SACSS's relationships with the government, other CBOs, and coalitions to advocate for the thriving of our communities.
- 3.Our objective is to broaden our range of services to encompass the underserved communities within the tri-state area, focusing on New Jersey and Connecticut. This expansion aims to address the unmet needs of these communities and ensure that our services are accessible to all who require them.
