Mission

Teacher's Pet fills a unique gap in the community by providing at-risk youth with a transformative educational experience that combines animal care and welfare with Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and trauma-informed practices. Many of these young individuals lack access to programs that offer both practical skills and emotional support in a holistic and engaging manner. By integrating shelter dogs into our curriculum, we offer a distinctive approach that fosters empathy, responsibility, and personal growth, which traditional educational programs often fail to provide or at least have greater difficulty.
