Vision

Blue Hill Observatory will be a globally recognized center for climate and weather—and their relationship to the environment and society—leveraging a world-class meteorological record to fuel modern research, education, and public engagement.

Goals

1. 1.Increase annual student participation from 4,000 to 12,000 within three years by expanding field trips, in-school programs, summer institutes, and teacher professional development. Grow school district partnerships by 50% and increase Title I school participation from 30% to 50%.
2. 2.Increase annual operating revenue from $600K to $1.1M within three years. Diversify revenue so no single source exceeds 30%. Grow membership from to 1,500 households and build operating reserves equal to 4 months of expenses.
3. 3.Implement formal evaluation across 100% of education programs. Achieve 85%+ participant satisfaction and 70% demonstrated gains in climate/data literacy based on pre/post assessments. Launch a student data fellowship serving 25 students annually using the Observatory’s long-term climate record.
