How this organization adapted to changing conditions caused by COVID-19:
As mainly staffed by volunteer Marines - we adapt, improvise and overcome.
Innovations the organization intends to continue permanently after the pandemic:
We did decide to have a small gathering of 30 guests and it was very well received and brought in much needed donations. We will likely do this again.

The nonprofit organization presents evidence of strategic thinking through articulating the organization's mission
“Providing Veteran Aid & Educating the Children of Those Who Sacrificed All” MCLEF provides educational assistance to the children of fallen United States Marines, Navy Corpsmen and Federal law enforcement agents. Since our founding in 1995, MC-LEF has awarded over $89 million in scholarships and other humanitarian assistance and supported over 4,600 children. We currently provide $35,000.00 in a scholarship account for each child who has lost a parent while serving in the United States Marine Corps, as a Navy Corpsman or as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer. Additionally, MCLEF provides humanitarian aid to both Marine and law enforcement families in need. This support may include financial support for mentally or physically disabled children of active duty Marines or Navy Corpsman. Financial assistance may be considered for law enforcement families who have experienced extreme financial hardship due to unexpected costs as a result of injury or illness.
The nonprofit organization presents evidence of strategic thinking through articulating the organization’s vision.
MCLEF was founded by former Marines who believed just because they took off their uniform, they weren't finished serving. It is our goal to help support the children of Marines, Navy Corpsman and Federal Law Enforcement Officers who have died on active duty by providing financial support for their education. Every United States Marine, Navy Corpsman or Federal Law Enforcement Officer deserves to know that their fellow Americans stand behind them and should the worst happen, their children will be taken care of. We also continue to increase our medical financial help and humanitarian aid to both Marine Corps families and families of Federal Law Enforcement.

Strategic Partnerships
Raising Awareness
As stated above, MCLEF is very different in that we only have one employee. Our volunteer Board does work to constantly share our mission thru business and personal contacts. We also use our FaceBook page and website to get our message out. We have worked with other Marine Corps charities to further our mission. All of our volunteers have executive leadership experience in either the military, law enforcement or corporate fields. As a result, we direct all our resources towards our primary mission i.e. the funding of scholarships as indicated in our mission statement.
The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year.
The pandemic presented difficulties in fund raising resulting in our having to cancel our major fund raising efforts. We attempted to create new "virtual" events to include a golf "dawn to dusk" pro event. We sent a solicitation mailing which we had never done before. We created a limited seating dinner to raise funds to allow direct solicitation from major supporters.
