How COVID-19 impacted the organization's operations financially:
ACN is a membership organization, and 92% of our member clinics faced significant financial challenges due to the pandemic. They needed our services more than ever. ACN waived membership fees for clinics in 2020 and has offered reduced rates for 2021 fees. Naturally, this has impacted our own financial sustainability and increased the amount we need to raise from individuals and foundations.
How COVID-19 impacted the organization's delivery of programs:
ACN shows up for our members- literally. In the pandemic, we were unable to do clinic visits and provide the in-person support that we are known for. We shifted much of our programming to virtual options, added weekly calls for clinic managers on topics related to the pandemic that continue to this day, and began offering virtual quarterly wellness spaces. Our members have greatly appreciated this adaptability and focus on their resilience during this time.
How this organization adapted to changing conditions caused by COVID-19:
Like many organizations, we shifted to a completely virtual model of program offerings and membership support. In addition to the added membership support mentioned above, we also held weekly staff calls to learn about the specific supports our staff needed to stay safe and have the tools they needed to do their work in this new model.
Innovations the organization intends to continue permanently after the pandemic:
Virtual offerings have provided increased opportunities for more staff to participate in our programming, and that is one piece that will stay in our work moving forward. The other is the weekly calls for clinic managers- this space has been critical not only for information sharing, but also for relationship building and decreasing the isolation that many clinic staff felt even pre-pandemic.
