Vision

JIMENA was founded on a theory of change that envisions achieving acknowledgment, redress, and the full inclusion of Mizrahi and Sephardic Jews and their descendants in U.S. public life and mainstream Jewish communal life. As the only organization in the United States dedicated to pursuing recognition and inclusion for Mizrahi and Sephardic Jews through both advocacy and communal education and engagement, JIMENA occupies a unique and vital space in these interconnected spheres. Our work in advocacy, education, and community engagement is deeply symbiotic, with each aspect reinforcing the other to advance our ultimate goal. Through our programming, we build vibrant communities and foster networks of Jewish and non-Jewish individuals and institutions who are committed to our mission. These partnerships amplify our efforts and actively contribute to achieving acknowledgment, redress, and lasting inclusion.

Goals

1. 1.Our current strategic plan concretizes a portfolio of programs and services designed to support mainstream American Jewish organizations in more effectively including and integrating Sephardic and Mizrahi individuals and heritage. This focus relies upon the elevation and support of Sephardic Jewish leaders in American Jewish organizations, and the training of staff in these organizations.
2. 2.As JIMENA experiences a period of significant growth and increasing demand for our programs and services, we are actively working to expand our operational, managerial, and communications capacities.
3. 3.We focus on publishing research and reports, implementing thought-leadership and communications strategies, training Jewish leaders and networks, and supporting educators in integrating Sephardic and Mizrahi content into classrooms and materials.
