Chesterfield Food Bank Outreach Center
Mission
MISSION: Fighting Hunger and Empowering Lives Established in 2010, the Chesterfield Food Bank Outreach Center is a passionate, community-driven nonprofit with a vision to nourish and strengthen our local region. Our mission is about feeding those in need and empowering individuals and families to overcome the root causes of food insecurity. We recognize the unfortunate reality that many in our community fall through the gaps in aid programs offered by the government and other organizations. As a result, we have dedicated ourselves to providing additional support to curb hunger for our kids, families, individuals, and seniors. At CFBOC, we are driven by the belief that no one should go hungry. We are committed to fighting hunger in our community and are convinced that it's not just about filling empty stomachs; it's about tackling the root causes of hunger to empower lives. We aim to connect those we serve with life-changing programs offered by our exceptional partners or ourselves. By addressing the underlying issues, we can create sustainable change that ripples through the entire region and is driven by the hands and hearts of those within the community.
Vision
To Nourish and Strengthen Our Community.
Goals
- 1.Our executive leadership is committed to expanding our food outreach programs to fixed-income seniors enrolled in the Senior Food program. Recently, we obtained a HUD-backed grant to add more nutritious, fresh food items that cater to their health needs. We've also included personal care items that may be too costly for some to afford.
- 2.In the summer of 2024, CFBOC leadership launched a pilot school pantry program with six schools in the service area. We understand that hunger can impede the academic and emotional success of students. With surrounding communities that have established school pantries, CFBOC understands the need to offer this service to the largest school district in central Virginia.
- 3.To empower households, CFBOC leadership understands it takes a community to help those in need. This is why our executive leadership created a development department in 2023 that actively engages with local businesses and faith/community-based organizations to spread the word about food insecurity in our region and look for partners who can address the root cause of their challenges.
