The Butterfly Project

Mission

The Butterfly Project is a call to action through education, the arts, and memorial-making. Through lessons from the Holocaust, we educate participants about the dangers of hatred and bigotry to cultivate empathy and social responsibility, combat antisemitism, and help ensure that every child receives quality Holocaust education. By painting ceramic butterflies, which are displayed as symbols of resilience and hope, participants remember the 1.5 million children murdered during the Holocaust.

Goals

1.Expand Impact Through Scalable Partnerships: Shift from single-classroom efforts to district-wide, museum, and institutional partnerships that bring the program to increase reach, sustainability, and depth of Holocaust education.
2.Standardize & Streamline: Implement a full, consistent program package including film, curriculum, bio cards, and installations to ensure every participant experiences the program’s full educational and memorial impact.
3.Build Infrastructure for Growth and Sustainability: Invest in staffing, digital systems, and a rebrand to streamline operations, protect IP, and amplify engagement across schools, funders, and global communities.
