Mission

United Way of South Central Illinois fights for the education, health, and financial stability of every person in our community. We connect people, resources, and organizations to create lasting solutions to local challenges. By investing in innovative programs, supporting partner agencies, and leading initiatives like early literacy, food access, and 211 services, we strive to improve lives and build stronger, more resilient communities across Jefferson, Marion, Washington, and Wayne counties.

Vision

We envision a thriving, united region where every individual has access to the resources, support, and opportunities needed to reach their full potential. By bringing communities together, we aspire to break the cycle of poverty, eliminate barriers to success, and create a future where everyone—regardless of background or circumstance—can live healthy, educated, and financially stable lives.

Goals

1.Expand access to core programs like United We Give, Mobile Markets, and United Way Readers to serve more families, students, and rural communities throughout our three-county region.
2.Secure a permanent, centrally located facility to improve program delivery, volunteer coordination, and operational efficiency while expanding services like sorting, storage, and community engagement.
3.Prioritize high-impact programs—such as United Way Readers, United We Give, and 211—while phasing out or restructuring less effective efforts to better align with community needs and maximize impact.
