Hounds in Pounds Inc.
Mission
Hounds in Pounds is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue rooted in compassion and driven by purpose. Based in New Jersey, we are dedicated to giving dogs on death row and from underserved communities across Georgia and the South a second chance at life. As one of the region’s leading rescue organizations, we provide critical veterinary care, thoughtful behavioral support, and inclusive, informed adoption practices that unite families with their perfect companions. At our core, we believe rescue is about more than saving dogs—it’s about building stronger, kinder communities.
Vision
Hounds in Pounds envisions a future where every dog is safe, valued, and loved. We aspire to break the cycle of neglect and overbreeding by increasing access to spay and neuter programs in low-income communities and by providing critical support to under-resourced rural shelters. Through education, we aim to empower the public with knowledge of responsible dog ownership, the importance of fostering and adoption, and the truth about how buying dogs fuels a cruel and profit-driven breeding industry. We envision a world where compassion drives action—where more volunteers join our mission, enabling us to save more lives, provide more resources, and expand our impact. With every dog we rescue, every family we educate, and every community we serve, we move closer to a future where no dog is left behind.
Goals
- 1.We aim to further our advocacy by raising awareness of responsible dog ownership, promoting adoption and fostering as lifesaving alternatives to buying, and breaking the cycle of overbreeding through accessible spay/neuter programs. By expanding education, aiding underfunded shelters, and growing our volunteer base, we strive to create lasting change for dogs and the people who love them.
- 2.We aim to expand and scale our impact by growing community outreach, strengthening shelter partnerships, and increasing access to key programs, including spay/neuter, behavioral training, and education. By broadening resources and reach, we can save more dogs, support more families, and build stronger, more compassionate communities.
- 3.We strive to remain responsive to the evolving needs of the communities we serve by adapting and creating programs that address emerging challenges. By observing trends and listening to those directly impacted, we can refine existing services and implement new, innovative initiatives that ensure lasting, meaningful change for dogs and the people who love them.
