Mission
WABUN FOUNDATION MISSION:
Transforming lives through wilderness experiences.
VISION:
Wabun Foundation seeks to:
● Continue the longstanding Camp Wabun tradition of experiential and structured learning by paddling the waterways of Northern Canada by canoe and fostering the self-discovery inherent in such travel.
● Cultivate respect for and stewardship of the Earth’s natural resources. ● Honor and promote travel in traditional ways through the historic territories of the Teme-Augama Anishnabai people.
● Empower confidence, resilience, perseverance, teamwork, and leadership. ● Provide opportunities to leave the distractions of technology behind and educate about the benefits derived from the rewards of hard work, peer fellowship, and incredible beauty.
● Create meaningful, lasting relationships and connections across generations and diverse communities.
● Be steadfast in our commitment to inclusive programming.
● Make wilderness experiences more accessible through scholarship, financial support, and expanded opportunities.
We VALUE
● Educational programming which fosters a deep connection between humans and nature.
● Stewardship and sustainability demonstrated through low-impact wilderness practices, land acknowledgement, and respect for the environment.
● Preserving our relationships within and among caring communities through advancing empathy, trust, patience, and good will.
● Sharing these values through promoting inclusion and access to wilderness for all people.
