Mission

The Thomas Circle Singers (TCS) is a 50-voice chamber choral ensemble with a dual musical and social outreach mission. As a respected member of the DC-area choral community, the group performs a varied repertoire focused on classical styles, distinguishing itself through an emphasis on the work of American composers and a strong commitment to new American choral music. As a social service partner, each season TCS enters into a season-long partnership with a nonprofit social service organization serving residents in need in Washington, DC. Each partner receives a portion of the concert ticket proceeds for the season, complimentary tickets to concerts for staff and clients, an opportunity to share its mission during concerts, and visibility on TCS’ communication channels. TCS also strives to find meaningful collaborations with each partner beyond financial contributions, and to ensure continued relationships beyond the formal partnership agreement. This dual mission, centered on being voices that make a difference, merges the DC arts and social justice communities, using concert performances to raise awareness of and engagement with organizations that provide for community members in need. These partnerships with social service organizations are a significant factor in singers’ and audience members’ choice to support TCS.
