Girls Inc. of the Pacific Northwest
Mission
Girls Inc. of the Pacific Northwest is building Oregon and Washington’s next generation of leaders. By partnering with local schools and communities, we provide comprehensive mentorship programs for girls and gender-expansive youth ages 6-18+, while advocating for the rights and opportunities of all youth. Our mission is to inspire all girls and youth to grow up Strong, Smart, and Bold, as measured by key indicators of health and well-being, educational attainment, and personal development. We have been mentoring thousands of youth in Metro Portland since 1998, Southwest Washington since 2017, and Greater Seattle since 2018. Over the past 25+ years, thousands of youth have graduated from our programs and gone on to college, careers, and prosperous lives.
Vision
We envision powerful girls in an equitable society. We envision a society where all girls and youth are safe, resourced, and supported to exercise these rights: (1) To be themselves and to resist gender stereotypes (2) To express themselves with originality and enthusiasm (3) To take risks, to strive freely, and to take pride in success (4) To accept and appreciate their bodies (5) To have confidence in themselves and be safe in the world (6) To prepare for interesting work and economic independence
Goals
- 1.We will dedicate time, resources, and strategic efforts to expand our presence and outreach in the Greater Seattle region. Our Seattle growth model will be reflected through objectives rooted in our four strategic pillars: (1) Passion for People & Processes; (2) Meaningful Storytelling & Thought Leadership; (3) Data-Informed Strategic Initiatives; (4) Sustainable Revenue & Impactful Fundraising.
- 2.Increasing our Capacity through Data-Informed Strategic Initiatives: Actively observing, collecting, and analyzing data to address modern problems faced by our organization and people. Utilizing data-informed solutions to empower growth and expansion that will better-serve girls in our community.
- 3.Advocacy through Meaningful Storytelling & Thought Leadership: Developing powerful, recognizable branding driven by inspirational youth stories of success. Adding value to the community through thought leadership and driving awareness in defense of girls’ access to health, education, and power.
