Mission

At Austin Street Center, we transform lives and restore hope to those experiencing homelessness. Austin Street Center is one of the largest low barrier shelters in Dallas. Founded in 1983, we serve men, ages 45 and older, and women, ages 18 and older. Beyond meeting basic needs, Austin Street is committed to helping our clients regain their independence and find a permanent place to call home. We focus on a caring, customized, collaborative approach that involves a variety of services and special programs to remove barriers to permanent housing.<br><br>Austin Street Center is committed to ending homelessness, one individual at a time. By focusing on housing and diversion, our clients are able to shorten the length of their homeless experience, allowing them to recover more quickly and reducing the complicating factors that result from extended periods of homelessness.
