Charityvision International Inc.
Mission
Vision is our mission. Restoring vision to people in developing nations is our cause. We are an organization with a focus on empowering local physicians and creating a sustainable solution to the blindness epidemic. Since 1987 Charity Vision has provided over 1,500,000 charitable surgeries to people suffering from needless blindness. We have built local networks in over 25 different countries and we average about 130,000 new sight procedures every year. In addition to surgeries, we have a strong school screening program where we identify children struggling to see clearly and we provide them glasses. The secret of our success lies with our local physician partners throughout the world. We provide our skilled local physicians with the surgical equipment and supplies they need to be successful. They provide their talent and time. The result is a network of developing health services systems that perform charitable surgeries free of charge.
Vision
Our vision is to establish a network of local professionals that are not only willing, but financially able, to reach out to those in their communities that need their help. We see a time in the future that these humanitarian gestures are common, prolific, and self sustainable. Our clinic program is providing enough profits locally to pay for the charitable work. In 2000 we were doing 7,500 surgeries per year, in 2020 we were doing 100,000 per year. In 2030 we want to be at the 200,000 surgeries per year.
Goals
- 1.In every clinic that we operate we need to find the correct balance of charity and for profit work. These "hubs" in our charity model, need to be not only prolific, but self sustainable. This means that their management needs to be state of the art and that they have the correct technology in their clinic to provide state of the art patient care.
- 2.In order to reach sustainability around the world, we need to find opportunities to establish clinics in areas of need, but where there is a paying component. We need the right number of clinics to match the anticipated needs for our humanitarian care. Each year we look to add an additional 3-5 clinics around the world.
- 3.Our school screening programs are taking flight. The need is great, the human resource needs are minimal, an the impact is impressive in these young lives. This is a new avenue for future funding. We feel that this is an obvious area where we should put more effort in order to scale up. In 2023 we saw close to 400,000 children. By 2030 we have a goal to exame 1,000,000 children each year.
