Brightside Project Inc.
Mission
The Brightside Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving children and families in Columbiana County and rural Mahoning County, Ohio. Our mission is to remove barriers that prevent children from having a safe, healthy, and hope-filled childhood while building the developmental assets they need to thrive. Through programs such as the Sunshine Bus mobile outreach initiative, Food for Kids (a children's choice food pantry), youth outreach events, and faith-based leadership opportunities, we provide food, hygiene products, books, mentorship, encouragement, and access to positive adult role models. We are committed to creating safe and welcoming environments where children can practice making healthy choices, build confidence and self-esteem, develop leadership skills, and experience hope for their future. At The Brightside Project, we believe every child deserves to feel valued, supported, and loved. By meeting both practical and emotional needs, we strive to strengthen children, empower families, and create brighter futures throughout our community.
Vision
The Brightside Project envisions a community where every child in Columbiana County and rural Mahoning County is safe, valued, encouraged, and equipped with the resources and support needed to thrive. We aspire to create a future where no child faces barriers to food, basic necessities, education, hope, or opportunity, and where every young person is surrounded by positive relationships, strong developmental assets, and a community that believes in their potential. A safe and healthy childhood should be a promise, not a privilege.
Goals
- 1.Launch the Spark Initiative, a youth development program that expands access to workforce development, career exploration, mentorship, and opportunities for children and teens to discover and develop their gifts and talents through the arts, athletics, leadership, and hands-on experiences.
- 2.Grow and expand access to The Brightside Project’s core programs and services to reach more children and families throughout Columbiana County and rural Mahoning County. Strengthen program effectiveness through evaluation tools, surveys, and data tracking systems that measure outcomes, guide improvements, and support long-term community impact.
- 3.Invest in organizational capacity by strengthening financial sustainability, staffing, and operational systems. Expand revenue through fundraising initiatives, monthly giving programs, grants, and corporate sponsorships while increasing organizational effectiveness through the addition of staff & improved management systems.
