Mission

With exhibits, collections and programs reflecting 13 states, from Louisiana to Texas, Florida to Virginia, the Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience (MSJE) explores the many ways that Jews in the American South influenced and were influenced by the distinct cultural heritage of their new homes. MSJE encourages appreciation for identity, diversity, and acceptance, and seeks to expand visitors’ understanding of what it means to be a Southerner, a Jew, and – ultimately -- an American.
