    Adaptability Practices
    30 out of 30 points
The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year
Prior to 2021, CSF did not have an Executive Director and for some time, had no paid staff at all. The original mission was to donate solar panels through our two grant programs until the original fund was depleted. In 2021, after four years, the Couillard family realized that the foundation had made a significant impact on the growth of solar in Wisconsin and that there was much work still to be done. Our two grant programs had increased solar in Wisconsin by roughly 9 Megawatts, helping 149 nonprofits. But the money in the fund was now going to run out by 2024. So in 2021, CSF hired an Executive Director and embarked on an ambitious plan to raise additional funds to continue supporting our mission until every nonprofit in Wisconsin that is able to have solar does. To date we've developed our Strategic Plan with plans to increase revenue through the sales of a unique solar canopy (with 100% of the net proceeds going to support the grant programs) and to develop the necessary internal structures and systems needed to make us eligible for grants and donations. We're also working with our program administrators to refocus our grant programs to reach those nonprofits who most can use our help, in line with the general social trend of including social justice considerations into our grant review process.
