Mission

We are Colorado Horse Rescue (CHR), and we are building a better future for horses. We see it. We believe in it. And we are here to make it happen. As a 501(c)(3) impact organization operating in Colorado since 1986, we work to continuously reimagine what’s possible and create a reality where safe solutions exist for every horse. CHR is honored to be the longest-standing horse rescue in Colorado and one of the oldest active horse rescues in the United States. CHR is an EQUUS Foundation Mentor organization, accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS), and an ASPCA Right Horse partner. CHR maintains a Platinum GuideStar rating and a Top-Rated Nonprofit Award from GreatNonprofits.

Goals

1.Colorado Horse Rescue will use education as a tool to solve the unwanted horse issue and be a critical information resource for the horse community.
2.Our programs and ever-increasing impact have outgrown our location. In order to help more horses we cannot be limited to the capacity nor the number of visitors permitted on our current property.
3.CHR will prioritize best-in-class systems that drive operational efficiencies. We have implemented a new donor management system and are developing a robust equine management system.
