Goal Two: Each season have new works that give audiences experiences they’ve never seen, older works that remind of our artistic history, and original works to cultivate the new playwrights of our generation.
Goal Three: Continue the Be Heard series to work with integrity, quality, and diverse viewpoints, specifically with people of color, to foster the growth of many young minority artists, and tell their stories.

    Investment in Leadership Development
    15 out of 15 points
The nonprofit provides evidence of investment in leadership development.
We have previously participated in the Joy-Jackson Initiative which encourages increasing board membership and leadership positions for under-represented communities. We joined this project during the pandemic and since then, although our programs were affected by Covid, we have included a more diverse board and associate members within Alchemy to help cultivate diversity through action as opposed to just statements. We know this is not an overnight change, but it is one we are dedicated to. We also have instituted training for all company members to be able to conduct performances of their own and understanding all aspects of our work. We encourage leadership and goals outside of the company itself as well.

    Adaptability Practices
    30 out of 30 points
The nonprofit has an opportunity to tell the story of how the organization adapted to tremendous external changes in the last year
Adapting to the pandemic was a major hurdle, but we learned a lot including how to create digital programing and provide free services to our community. We believe that theatre should not be a $50 a ticket price tag as that puts a barrier between those who want to experience the arts and those who have the financial means to do so. Because of this, we started our summer Shakespeare in the park free of charge to the community and will be continuing that this year to include a youth summer show as well. We have also adapted to creating more programs than just theatre. These include Be Heard, Drinkspeare, Du Fromage, Headshot Sessions, Film Reel Sessions, an Improv team, and more. We want to be a theatre space that encourages creativity of all kinds, not just what the general population expects theatre to be.
