Mission
Border Tails Rescue is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to saving and improving the lives of dogs by providing safe shelter, comprehensive medical care, vaccinations, and any specialized treatment they need to thrive. We believe every dog deserves a chance, regardless of breed, age, size, or medical condition. As a result, we regularly take on complex medical cases—including major surgeries and severe health conditions—that many other organizations are unable to accept.
Despite operating without large corporate sponsors, major endowments, or significant grant funding, Border Tails Rescue has consistently ranked among the top three rescue partners of Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC) in the number of dogs transferred from the city's open-admission animal shelter into rescue. This reflects our unwavering commitment to saving dogs most at risk and maximizing the impact of every dollar entrusted to us.
Our commitment extends beyond rescue through our Inclusive Adoption program, which removes unnecessary barriers to adoption while providing compassionate guidance and ongoing support before, during, and after placement. We believe successful adoptions are built on strong partnerships with adopters and foster families, and we provide the resources, education, and assistance needed to help both people and pets succeed together.
Border Tails Rescue is committed to responsible stewardship of every donation. The revenue and contributions we receive are invested directly in the care of our dogs, including medical treatment, food, shelter, transportation, enrichment, training, spay/neuter services, and other essential programs that support their health, recovery, and successful placement into loving homes.
