Vision

Seedling envisions communities where all young people have equitable access to environmental and sustainability education, empowering them to become informed leaders, stewards, and change-makers who shape a healthier, more just future for their communities and the planet.

Goals

1. 1.A key goal is to expand the Seedling program, transforming it from into a larger, more scalable initiative serving high-need communities throughout the Mid-Atlantic. A core principle of environmental justice is ensuring that all individuals, regardless of income level or geographic location, have a working understanding of the practical tools needed to address sustainability challenges.
2. 2.As Seedling expanded to new sites, demand for our programming exceeded capacity. Many schools and community groups want to host workshops but cannot afford standard fees, revealing an access gap and a sustainability challenge. This project addresses both by converting select part-time roles into full-time positions, strengthening capacity and creating stable, mission-aligned jobs.
3. 3.The Seedling Alumni Program will support former participants as they transition into leadership, education, and sustainability-focused pathways. Alumni receive mentorship, professional development, and paid opportunities to support programming delivery. The program strengthens long-term engagement, builds a pipeline of educators, and ensures Seedling’s impact extends beyond initial participation.
