Food and Care Coalition
Mission
The mission of the Food & Care Coalition is to alleviate hunger and diminish the plights of poverty for those who enter our doors. Our primary objectives include finding suitable housing, teaching financial accountability, facilitating an elevation in personal morals and values, and helping each patron achieve their full potential. We believe in the inherent worth of people and embrace the philosophy that trusting relationships between patron, staff, and volunteer are vital in realizing this end. In order to succeed, charity and compassion from the community must be met by accountability and a personal desire to learn and grow by those served. The Food & Care Coalition by design, offers daily opportunities for the community to support, influence and participate both in the policy making and operation of agency programs to meet these objectives.
Vision
The Coalition is committed to utilizing public contributions in a way that will enhance programs and services moving into the future. While we operate a number of programs from a position of strength, there remains a good number of service gaps in the community and client barriers that need addressed in order to move forward effectively. The Coalition's aims and activities in the coming years will focus on strategies that address short and long term housing, access to educational opportunities, and improvements in work training and employment outlets available to our clients.
Goals
- 1.The agency has he beginnings of an endowment fund that covers our administrative expenses. We hope to pay off any debt associated with our building within the year while seeking additional contributions towards our endowment. A healthy endowment fund will allow the agency to better plan and strategically adapt to growing and ever changing needs.
- 2.The agency has recently adopted new educational curriculum that will better serve the educational gaps currently seen amongst our homeless population. Additionally, we are currently conducting IRB approved research initiatives to identify education gaps and learning needs of our homeless community.
- 3.Because we operate on a 4.5 acre campus and have 30+ onsite or visiting partnerships, there is a need to increase and improve our security, surveillance, and IT systems to ensure the monitoring and protection of our visiting and housed patrons and guests. We will be seeking funding from private and foundation sources to achieve this goal.
